Start an annual tradition when you whip up a batch of these Yummy Red, White, & Blue Sparkle Cookies for July 4th! They are great for picnics, family treats or midnight snacks and, best of all, they are easy to make with only a few ingredients. Each batch is a treat for the tummy and the eye – crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and the sugars add that perfect sparkle!

- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup Red, White and Blue M&M Candies
- White sanding sugars (You can find these in the cake/candy making aisles of most craft stores)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix together the yellow cake mix, eggs, vegetable shortening, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
- Add M&M's and stir until well incorporated
- Take a tablespoon of the cookie batter and gently roll in the candy sugars, place on baking sheet and repeat until all the batter is used.
- Bake 8-10 minutes, watching carefully until the edges just start to brown.
